when you try to open a text file (i.e. a *.prn, *txt, *.csv) excel should automatically open the Text Import Wizard. if you choose DELIMITED in the first step, you can specify what characters excel should use to break the rows into columns. if all of your text is formatted uniformly, then excel oughta do a half decent job of laying out the columns.

hope this helps,
big
