Unfortunately, I couldn't find the transcript. All I recall is that the way he phrased things in the clip with the students is that the clear implication was that he was responsible for exposing Love Canal. Even if it were technically compatible with the truth, which I cannot certainly recall, it was grossly misleading. Misleading to a degree that it is hard to believe was unintentional. Although I could not find the documentation, my recollection is that he not only told the reporters that he and Tipper were the models for Oliver and Jenny in "Love Story", but that the Tennessean story had already been corrected, so that he knew that was not true at the time. I don't know why you posted the piece from the Columbia Journalism Review, since it helps to substantiate my point. His claim was essentially bogus. Of course, you did not even try to refute the point about Vietnam, since that is well known. The whole Internet business turns on a judgment about whether the exaggeration were innocuous or not. I do not think it was. It is part of a pattern.......
