Do you wish to disagree with Dataquest?
I don't think I have broken any of the 10 Commandments if I disagree with Dataquest. Put it this way, I don't worship Dataquest or any other on-line news services.
Analysts characterized the patent as a potent legal weapon that could be used against ATA flash-card manufacturers. Some, however, said they were skeptical that Sunnyvale, Calif.-based SanDisk could wield it successfully.
Don't forget that the information you posted antedates SanDisk's legal victory over LEXR.
SST and TDK have already signed cross-licensing agreements. Dr. Harari suggested that there are other parties interested in similar agreements.
DO YOU DARE DISAGREE WITH SEMICO RESEARCH CORPORATION???
"While inclusion of a controller on a flash card is fairly common today, many of the vendors using the technology are SanDisk licensees. That list includes Intel, Samsung Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp and Silicon Storage Technology. Anything that emulates a hard drive using flash that is removable and has a controller is covered by that patent," said Niebel. "I think it's too broad, and that's what Lexar is arguing, but so far SanDisk has been able to prevail. The patent has been unchallenged to date."
BTW, your comments on royalty revenues failed to mention that no additional licensees were added in Q2 of 2000. Thus, CompactFlash cards themselves contributed proportionally little to that royalty figure since SST was the only known licensee at the time.
Wait till CF, MMC and SDMC hit their strides.
