one thing I have not been able to discover is the extent to which WIND solutions are used by Open TV, or the extent to which WIND competes with OPTV. The same goes for related companies like Liberate. Can anyone provide more information on this?

the following link will take you to a www.opentv.com page with 14 links to optv and wind....this will answer your question quite thoroughly.
opentv.com

clip....Delivered as Windows NT or Solaris source code. Designed to run on LynxOS, QNX, OS-9, VxWorks, and pSOS

vxworks and psos are wind products.

ditto here for liberate...
liberate.com

i believe liberate uses wind's vxworks and tornado products.

bottom line imo, you will see wind in products from both.
