At 65% increments between levels, allowing for maybe 10% margin of programming error, so an effective 50+% gap between levels, 8 levels uses up a 35X dynamic range, which is what is available at 80C -- milspec.

This is very comfortable, and I would guess eminently do-able.

2 bits = more than a run in the dryer.
