I have never heard Rambus say "pay or we will put you out of business". Uh, not in those exact words, but there's this from a week ago: "Any company can fight us in court, but if we win we can choose not to license them anymore," Kanadjian said.http://www.infoworld.com/articles/hn/xml/00/08/23/000823hnrambus.xml Which says pretty much the same thing, not to mention that numerous local flacks have been unabashedly putting forward the "out of business" line.
