TaiJin,

>>>> I can't agree with this. By doing the research and finding an undervalued stock which is in an explosive earnings growth phase with the big money flowing into it, you can do very well investing in it and with low risk <<<<

Firstly you are taking it out of context which is common. I was talking about the average investor, and I did say that. So talking about the average investor, what trades more on a daily basis, MERX or QCOM. If it is QCOM is it fair to say more of the average investors are in QCOM not MERX.

As for my example concerning starting a business, not all small business are successful and the majority of the successful biz owners are not rich. Those who worked harder, had the better idea, better execution, etc will normally do better, just like the one who does more research and better research in stocks. To me thats just common sense, and didnt realise that I needed to be that specific.

Until the internet the average person really didnt have the tools to do that sort of research nor the time. As the internet grows those tools will and have become readily available, so now its mainly a question of time and ability.

Some can do what you did, but I would guess that the majority cannot, and frankly you are probably the exception and should be complemented. I too can give you a few example of some who trade extremely well, but lets keep in mind that thats the exception not the rule.
