Mark,

Just came across a problem on my system this morning and thought the fix might help your readers.

Couldn't connect to the network via my cable modem and called my local cable provider for technical assistance.

It appears that my IP address was visible to them at the central monitoring facility and, yet, no network access on my end!

Here's what the fix entailed:

In DOS mode, type ipconfig/release <CR>
System should release IP address (if not, restart computer and reset cable modem)
Type ipconfig/renew
Type ipconfig just to make sure that IP address has been restored

Sue
