Of course, AMZN could just issue their own credit cards, which they probably already have. Merry, I believe they do but any credit card is still a version of Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover and a few smaller firms. These are franchises. The banks that issue cards license the franchises. Currently, the FTC is investigating Master Card and VISA for a possible violation of monopoly powers. Specifically, not permitting financial institutions that offer a Master Card or Visa to also offer American Express and Discover. Glenn
