Can an industry sector be sort of like a gorilla of its own?

Gang,
Long time, no post. I am still pretty swamped with commitments relating to
the new book. However, I did want to comment on a question, "What happens if the industry itself is the gorilla?"

This sounds to me like a gorilla-less tornado -- a king, prince, serf market where there may be no king, only a handful of princes to date.
