Scumbria,

DRDRAM is losing out to PC133.

A short-sighted view, at best. This answer makes even less sense to me than trying to argue for DDR.

Last year, SDRAM had virtually 100% of the desktop/workstation/laptop memory market. This year it has less than 100% because DRDRAM systems are shipping. There have been no projections from either side that say that SDRAM will be 100% of that market in the future. All of the projections say we will move toward DRDRAM or to DDR DRAM or a combination -- it's just a question of how fast it happens. So SDRAM is losing, not winning, and will continue to lose.

I suppose if technology just stopped advancing right now then SDRAM might have a chance to maintain it's dominant position. If processors cap off at 1Ghz with 133Mhz FSBs, then it might make sense to stop making faster memory. Do you think that'll happen?

Me neither.

Dave
