Bill, with a boxed Duron 650, I did find that I had to use much more pressure to get the second side of the heatsink clip onto the socket, as compared to a socket 7 chip. It also had to be bent outwards with a needle nose while it was pushed down with a screwdriver.

I was fearful of breaking the CPU socket.
