Gus, thanks for your usual thorough review of the technology.

Bramson's comment with respect to MR + KM was that when they started the result was actually a negative enhancement and now they have reached the point where it is "similar" to inductive. It appears that they have come along way.

Your comment about them trying to "shoehorn" into the declining TFI market also makes sense in that Bramson stated that he misjudged the speed with which the industry is embracing MR. AXC anticipated a longer change over time.

Regarding production of KM, Mr. Bramson stated he was concerned about both the cost of capital and return on captial and that they have 3 ways to go:

1. License..when questioned about royalty of "1 cent or $1" he responded, "probably somewhere in the middle".

2. Have someone manufacture it for them, i.e. private label with Ampex's name on it.

3. Manufacture it themselves. Currently prices are to high for this approach, however if a major down turn in the industry occured, it might be prudent to buy a platter manufacturer.

As of now, my guess would be licensing. He did mention that they were still talking to two other potential customers but didn't give any immediate encouragement.
