ADC and Harris Network Support Division Partnership To Improve Revenue Assurance

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2000--

Agreement Integrates Two Best-in-Class Applications - Harris'

NetBoss(TM) and ADC Singularit.e's Metrica/NPR

ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT; www.adc.com) a leading global supplier of network equipment, software and integration services for broadband, multi-service networks, today announced an alliance with Harris Corporation's Network Support Division (NSD). Under the terms of the alliance, Harris NSD will become an OEM and systems integrator for ADC's industry-leading Metrica(TM) family of network performance management products. Harris NSD will seamlessly integrate ADC's Metrica/NPR (Network Performance Reporting) into NetBoss(TM), its network management suite of products and applications. The integrated offering will give Harris' nationwide customers a comprehensive and integrated service assurance solution that will help improve revenue assurance. Harris NSD will offer the integrated Metrica application as Optimize.IT, the network performance management module of the NetBoss application suite.

Headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, Harris's NSD delivers solutions to public and private communications service providers worldwide. The company currently has over 60 customers worldwide and is primarily focused on CLEC, wireless, national PTT, public utilities, state and federal government networks. NetBoss is an industry-leading communications management platform. NetBoss provides a single, integrated platform that allows customers to create, expedite and manage any type of communications service - wireline, wireless or Internet - while helping to reduce network administration and service implementation costs. NetBoss is designed to support the industry's most comprehensive set of capabilities, each of which can be added in a modular fashion: network management, performance management, service activation, electronic bonding and billing mediation.

With the integration of Metrica/NPR, Harris' NetBoss customers will not only be able to view and manage their networks, but also be able to manage the services and the quality of services that these networks are providing to their customers.

Harris's newly-launched NetBoss product suite is designed to enable the emerging carriers to lower their costs and improve their quality. "We chose ADC as our performance management partner because it offers the best-in-class performance management solution," said Frank Bourne, vice president, marketing and technology, Harris NSD. "The new integrated offering, Optimize.IT, will enable carriers to use network performance management as a tool for network tuning and revenue assurance rather than cost avoidance."

Metrica/NPR is an industry-leading performance management toolset. Available for SDH, SONET, ATM, Frame Relay and other fixed network technologies, Metrica/NPR is being used by telecommunications operators worldwide to manage the quality of service and the capacity of their networks.

Harris will also market, install and support other Metrica PAS (Performance Alarm Server) and Metrica Web. Metrica PAS allows telecoms network operators to rapidly identify performance problems that are being experienced by customers, but which may not be picked up by other fault management systems. Metrica Web brings the power of Metrica/NPR to the desktop. Metrica/NPR's standard reports and graphs can be accessed through standard web browsers, making performance information accessible to a wider audience than previously possible.

"This alliance brings together two best-in-class applications, Harris' NetBoss, a world leader in CLEC and ICP network management, and ADC's Metrica family of products, the world leader in network performance management," said Larry Barker, president of ADC's Software Systems Division.

Metrica/NPR, Metrica SLA, Metrica PAS, Metrica Web and Metrica APT are an integral part of Singularit.e, ADC's new suite of products, services and enterprise application integration (EAI) connectors that allow ICPs to build open operational support systems (OSSs) to compete more effectively in the broadband era. Singularit.e automates key OSS processes by combining real-time convergent billing, advanced customer management and service assurance technology with integration services from leading consulting companies.
