Wayne, I'm glad you are hitting the windows correctly. Too bad about the weather. It has been a balmy 109 degrees here lately, which is the hottest since I've lived in Houston. But that's o.k., because there is still a huge amount of humidity. I am beginning to think I've moved to Singapore in the middle of the night and forgot about the move. <g>
I agree about the races at Saratoga. First time turfers is one of the biggest opportunities, if you know something nobody else knows, and biggest traps in the game. I bet a few of those on simulcast and did o.k., but they aren't my favorite.
I have been kicking butt the last few weeks on the quarter horses, which means that the season is over on Sunday. <g> I even did pretty good in the contest the AQHA ran on their web site. I eliminated the overwhelming favorite in the All American Futurity and the bowwow finished 8th. Unfortunately, I didn't have the third place horse, who is still a maiden, so I probably didn't bag any cash in the contest. Somebody will have picked him for the name or the colors or something. <g> Our local leading jockey, Gilbert Ortiz, got second place in the AA, for a $400,000 consolation prize. He pockets $40,000 for tripping to Ruidoso, which is probably as much as he's made all season at Sam Houston. <g> |
