You're demeanor is not appreciated. You suggest somehow I am naive - is this how you respond to all challenges?

The facts are the facts... and I'm not going to go back and pull up the old posts. What I said stands - and IS indeed what AT&T is doing... and in fact what you are now echoing. I said service providers would provide "FREE VOICE" and make up the costs through the sale of other services. You said I was naive then... and now you are supporting EXACTLY what I said. I NEVER said that any carrier would provide free services... of course that is not sustainable... I am not a fool as you might like to believe.

Carriers will provide a set of services - in this case via cable access. AT&T will charge for the services a customer purchases on that connection ... aka service based model as opposed to a bandwidth based model (another argrument I made in which you called me naive). In the case of AT&T they are offering internet and voice access on cable and are charging for the internet access only in effect providing free voice. You said the carriers could never do this because of the cost of the voice infrastructure... that the costs of maintaining that infrastructure dictate that they HAVE TO charge for voice. I said that they would recoup the voice related costs through fee's charged for services offered. You were wrong - as this particular announcement would seem to indicate. You can not deflect this by calling me naive - that is simply a comment coming from someone dealing from weakness.
