I thought overall the defense was not bad. They allowed a lot of yards, but not a lot of points really. I hate to see the yards, but it is the bottom line that matters and they held them to field goals for the most part.

Am concerned with the decision making from the point of view of three players.

McBride over Edwards (I thought Edwards was supposed to be a fantastic corner...now they have him at safety and they may be messing up a good player).

Lee over Driver (Driver has a year under his belt and makes fabulous acrobatic catches. He may have caught a couple that Lee ROOKIE missed).

Green over Whisper (Green has a reputation as a fumbler and is has not shown the running ability I think Whisper has...ROOKIE yes, but I think he is the better choice based on my observation).

Protection for Farve is an issue. I thought our offensive line was supposed to be great. With the tight ends and fullback to boot we should be able to protect Farve better I would think. Then with everyone keying on Free, Shroeder (who I thought played very well) and Driver/Lee should be open down the field with the speed they possess.

I think what we are seeing is growing pains. In the header to this thread I suggested it takes two to three seasons before a new philosophy takes and the team has the players to play within that philosophy. Personally, I think the offense should be up to speed very quickly and was distressed to see the trouble they were having on offense. The defense was the bright spot really. They had the game won for us...if our offense would just play they way they are capable.

In order of priority the reason we lost. 1. Penalties, 2. Dropped passes and 3. Play calling.

On an aside I think our return game is finally settled. I liked Rossum very much. He is a keeper.
