Lewis to defend title against Tua in Las Vegas
August 30, 2000

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Lennox Lewis, who had hoped to defend his heavyweight titles against David Tua in Toronto, will instead meet the No. 1 challenger on Nov. 11 in Las Vegas.

The fight will be in the 11,200-seat arena at the Mandalay Bay, hotel vice president Bill Doak confirmed Wednesday.
Lewis will defend the IBF and WBC versions of the title against Tua, who is 37-1 and is the top challenger for both organizations.

Lewis, 37-1-1, stopped Francois Botha in the second round July 15 in London in his last bout.

He had said he wanted to fight Tua in Toronto, but Mandalay Bay won out in the bidding for the fight.
Lewis will receive a reported $8 million, compared to $3.5 million for Tua.
