Re: QCOM and China: I have said this before but it bears repeating. The Chinese are brilliant negotiators and I respect them for that. The Chinese are thrifty and I respect them for that as well. Given this, is the course of CDMA and China any surprise? No! The Chinese want the best technology, CDMA...there is simply no way that China deploys an obsolete wireless system or anything less than the best data through-put system. CDMA wins hands down. NOK gave them some FUD but can't demonstrate any of it...go home Jorma and sign that QCOM deal, but I digress...The Chinese want CDMA, but they also want the best deal, so they play hot/cold with CDMA and QCOM...any surprise?..no! The Chinese are patient and will wait for the best deal, BUT the world is on internet time and to maintain its spot in the World's New Economy a country must act on internet time....so China realizes its "patiently waiting for the best deal" time window is closing now..deployment must be gotten underway, China needs a great communications infrastructure and its going to be wireless and its going to be CDMA. The time is now..the market is going to get a huge wake-up call, Gilder's vision will be fulfilled. Everyone hates QCOM now...all the better to love it. QCOM's PEG is a steal and the timing is now. China will get on board with CDMA and all the others will soon follow..Jorma, sign that deal, or do you like to treat your shareholders the same way AT&T does? I think the pressure on Jorma must be great, even his fellow board members at Ford chose QCOM over NOK...The World is getting on board, somebody is going to notice that and soon...this is the last best opportunity to get on board QCOM...it feels very much like March of 1999 to me.
