hi mitch
welcome to the thread, mitch.
re... "Peter Norton and crowd have been doing this for a decade or more"
in 1990 he sold his company to symantec for stock worth more than $300 million.
"<opinionated rant>... <rant off>"
LOL!
"but when I have a legit support issue (like this one)"
forgive me, but if you are referring to the right-click menu selection addition of 'scan with norton antivirus' as a legit support issue, i would personally take exception. i was not even close to understanding why appro wanted to remove that choice, but i quickly decided that it wasn't important that i understand, if i could help him find a way to remove the selection. and i must admit that i was quite surprised that there was even a knowledge base article on that topic.
clearly, were it me pursuing this registry change, i would have continued the discourse with the symantec tech, who, as you may have noted, replied to the question in near record time.
"Norton software tends to be nearly as much trouble as the problems it ostensibly prevents"
i am in complete disagreement with this statement. my experience (which may fall way short of yours) has been unequivocally the opposite. however, i genuinely welcome you to feel good about stating your opinions here, and sharing your experiences, for the benefit of all.
"Our current NAV version is 7.0"
are they really up to 7.0 already? i have nav within nsw2000 and it's 6.0
"However, I'm running NAV-Corporate on my PC here, and none of the registry keys the article discussed exist on my PC"
this is not surprising, mitch, in that i provided the os and version # i am running on my machine when i posted the question to symantec. so they were not responding to an inquiry from someone with your specs.
:)
