A lot of liberals really are dopes. I once had a big argument over spanking with a bunch of people on another thread. They hurled studies at me. I would point out that, among other flaws, the researchers failed to differentiate between mild spanking and beating, and therefore the studies were worthless. It would have been like saying that because giving your child a bottle of aspirin would make him deathly ill, giving him one aspirin constituted abuse. And no one got it!
Similarly, I have had a dreadful time getting liberals to see that there is no meaningful distinction between an infant shortly before delivery, and an infant after delivery, and therefore that PBAs obviously constitute infanticide.
I have known people who cannot understand that having a president with the will to resist Soviet expansion, and the ability to lead NATO, was the key to the collapse of the Soviet Union. They will not even admit that it looks suspiciously like that, but insist it was an "accident" that it occurred when it did. The idea the SDI was the key, because there was no way the Soviets could compete, is commonly derided, even though Gorbachev has admitted as much, and considered the matter important enough to walk away from Reykjavik empty handed.
Then one has to endure someone like Tiger's Paw claiming that evangelicals lack critical thinking skills. Well, no. I am not an evangelical, but I do know that they are not generally lacking in that area.........
