BroadSoft Expands Executive Team to Support Rapid Growth and Demand For Flagship Product, BroadWorks Growing Customer Base and Interest in Award Winning Next-Generation Telephony Services Fuels Expansion of Company

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Sep 6, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- BroadSoft, Inc., the leading provider of service delivery systems for next-generation telephony services, announced today the company is expanding with new executive appointments. Industry veteran, Ian Maile joins the company as Vice President, Engineering, and Michael Tinsley assumes the position of Vice President, Finance and Administration. At the same time, BroadSoft co-founder, Scott Hoffpauir, Vice President of Engineering since 1998, now moves into the strategic role of Chief Technology Officer for the company.

BroadSoft's BroadWorks(TM) enhanced delivery system enables service providers to rapidly enter new markets and immediately generate new revenues with easy-to-use, differentiated local exchange services over packet-based networks as well as the traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN). BroadWorks includes a rich set of business options such as call waiting, voice mail, conferencing, auto-attendant and follow-me-anywhere services, and can interoperate with other network elements and business applications for a rich set of integrated services without lengthy and expensive proprietary development.

Maile comes to BroadSoft with more than fifteen years of engineering expertise, most recently at Motorola's Ground Systems Division where he was Director of Engineering. Maile led the development efforts at Motorola for MMDS fixed wireless systems. Previously, he was Director of Engineering at Celcore, where he administered the company's AMPS product development and testing and played a key role in the design, development, and international deployment of Celcore's AMPS and GSM switches. He has also held senior technical positions with GEC Plessey Telecommunications (GPT) and Stromberg Carlson, which later merged with Siemens. Maile received his Bachelors of Science degree in Statistics and Operational Research at Exeter University, England.

Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer for Scientific Research Corporation, a research and engineering firm specializing in defense communication systems. Previously, he was Vice President of Treasury for Digital Lightwave, where he was responsible for all of the company's SEC reporting requirements. He has also served as Vice President of Finance for BTG, where he managed the financial integration of three acquisitions and played a key role in the company's initial public offering. Tinsley is a certified public accountant and holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Murray State University.
