I find it odd with all the talk about shortages of fiber that the vendors aren't limiting sales to only the most creditworthy customers and demanding the most favorable of payment schedules. Perhaps the rapid drop in pricing of bandwidth is making a hash of more than a few business plans.

Speaking of which, here is further evidence that bandwidth is getting cheaper at the retail level (keep filling those pipes!). DSL prices are dropping. Yesterday I received a letter from Qwest informing me that my DSL service has been upgraded at no cost to me to 640K. It had been a nominal 256K service, though it usually up- and downloaded at around 350K. And Verizon responds:
