I think cuts in Intel's CPU prices waters down the argument of serious CPU shortages. The good news in falling CPU prices and a shift toward beefier chips is that both are likely to encourage systems with more memory.

Though ALSC is getting taken down with MU and other chip companies, I think djbeino is correct that ALSC is operating in a different segment of the market. It is particularly attractive as an all-weather semi investment. Buying whenever it drops below book value seems pretty safe.
