Amateur TA time.
I had a good laugh at your post. I use to scream buy
anywhere under $30. Remember the late night watches for
the Asian Flu? Those were grim times.
CPQ enjoyed positive "position trading TA" for some time.
CPQ's TA is not positive for position trading at this
point. The 4 DMA has moved under the 9 DMA, and MACD plus
Stochastics confirm a sell signal at this point. It
appears that CPQ will now settle into a new base or trading
range. The support level is not clear to me, but the $35
resistance area is clear.
IMHO the support areas are $31, $30, and $28. $31 is about
1/3 of the $9+ advance from $25. $30 is a phycological
support area, and an old resistance point. $28 is about
2/3 of the $9+ advance, plus an old resistance point.
CPQ does enjoy positive "long term investment" TA at this
point. The monthly chart just gave a buy signal. Based on
that buy signal, This basing period should not be long.
Maybe four to six weeks.
A general observation about TA. I didn't know beans about
TA last year. I became curious and read a recommended book
on the topic. Compaq has been my most intense TA effort.
No body could be more surprised about CPQ's run to $34+
after the TA buy signal showed up on the chart. At this
point, I hope the support area of $31 is correct.
