A 37-year-old foreman of a cable-laying company had withdrawn the cash from a UOB branch at Macpherson Road at about 2.15pm on Tuesday.
It was the payroll for his company and just as he was about to enter his parked lorry, two men rushed towards him.
One of them tried to stop the victim from driving off, while the other attacked him with a 4-foot long object.
All this was witnessed by Jimmy Ooi, a CISCO officer inside the bank lobby, who drew his service revolver and pointed it at the attackers.
Both culprits, Indian men in their 20s, fled the scene in separate directions.
Said Jimmy Ooi: "When one of the Indian men saw me, he ran away. And the other one with the object, he was struggling with the victim. When I saw the object, I drew my service revolver, pointed at him and I shouted a few warnings to him." |
