Re: Readership Survey. Feller's solution can only work if Kevin solicits for a survey again. A more appropriate model might be by Zeltermann (1989?) who, in a journal article, estimated the species population while whale watching off the coast of Maine (or New Foundland, or whatever).

Regardless, every model will employ repeated sampling. It has to when there is no other information. But if you have a good idea of some particular parameters, and Kevin estimated some, you can get a general (or conservative) estimate of the readership size.

Actually, I wonder if Feller's and Zeltermann's solutions might be used without the survey...but rather with a sampling of the posts. The survey could help determine the number of lurkers out there...oh, well, I've got enough to think about.

My picks (or non-picks):

symbol date price thumb today
ATMI 5/15/97 17.250 up 20.250
USF 5/15/97 30.000 down 29.375
AHP 5/15/97 73.750 up 74.500

I'm sorry...I don't know what's happening.
