>Nor is He
worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life,
breath, and all things.<

But if he requires people to worship him, and he gave men free will because he wants men to worship him with free will, then he does "need"- because he wants. And he gets angry when his wants are frustrated. And unlike even the harshest parent I know, he would condemn his own creation to Hell if it does not worship him. Of course when the Bible was written tenderness in a family was at a minimum (as you can see when Lot offers his poor virginal daughter to satisfy the lust of a mob). So perhaps the God of the Bible WAS made up to be like parents of old- and so let us thank our lucky stars that times have changed. And let us hope that the Bible falls away- and that some new belief or philosophy takes its place- that allows men to be moral, without needing to condemn their fellow men for not believing in the same thing, as long as they too are relatively moral men- who weigh the harm they do to others carefully. I have such a morality. I wish you had it too. But I do not condemn you. And you won't (in my cosmology) be going to Hell- unless you choose to make your own life a living Hell.
