Mary, Hi!!
RE: Kumar and the others (Analysts) are only looking at this from a quarter to quarter basis - using simplistic metrics. Very little of the Internet supply chain management issues and ecommerce story is built into Dell share prices.
Ariba, Commerce One, ITWO technologies, Manugistics and a lot of the other B2B plays are selling at tremendously high multiples because they promise to help companies to be successful in an ecommerce enivronment.
DELL is already there. They are writing the book on ecommerce.
The MSD story is just beginning.
And, here in lies the frustration...Kumar has to my knowledge never mentioned anything that would IMO be considered long term...Let alone discuss possible future prospects in these alliances, hostings, works, etc...Why call him an analyst? Why hasn't someone in the analyst world commented on the DELLHOSTING's that have been growing at a rapidly accelerating rate since their inception? Internet companies are all judged this way...I would imagine that $50 Million/day and showing companies how to become a successful E-commerce company should be considered as such...When will discussion be raised among the analyst world concerning DELL's Webhosting? These IMO are potentially huge CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS which if the past is any indication of...DELL OWNS.....Why hasn't someone come out and even suggested what DELL could perhaps do with their PREMIER PAGES or the employees that are estimated to be in these 40,000 (is that the current estimate?) I know that DELL has alluded to this in DELLWORKS...Yet, where are the brains in the analyst community that should be figuring out what they could do "selling everything from a paper clip to a jet engine"? IMO Tom Meredith's comments to me will eventually come true...DELL is literally just getting off the ground in so many other potentially lucrative areas ....And,if their planning is as accurately devised as their efficiency of the past some folks with just a few shares now are going to be banging their heads against that post just like that guy in the commercial...If I had the $$$ I'd be loading up here...Yet, I sit here amazed that the negative spin of one analyst can sway this stock...Folks with money should be buying here... Thanks for your insight Mary...
