<CHINA, August 25, AsiaPort -- US Globalstar, a global mobile satellite phone service, plans to set up a Shanghai branch to bring wireless phone services to local customers. "East China is Globalstar's second largest market that has the potential of using mobile satellite phone service," said Steven Jin, director of Globalstar's chief representative in China. He said Globalstar now has 500 users in the country, a number that is expected to jump to 5,000 by the end of this year.

Does "You may now print or save this document" mean I can print it here like this? Or save it like this? Any copyright lawyers know whether I've just breached copyright? library.northernlight.com

Here is some free advertising for them, just in case, by way of compensation:

Maybe that now breaches SI Terms of Use. Life is very difficult with all this copyright, deep-link to urls, insider-information, proprietary information and other information-handling law.

Anyway, 500 users is a start. But that's after June, July and most of August. How they think they'll get to 5000 in three more months beats me.

<BEIJING, CHINA, May 25, 2000 - Globalstar (NASDAQ: GSTRF), the global mobile satellite telephone service, today announced the start of commercial service in China, bringing portable, easy-to-use communications services to vast reaches of the country outside the range of existing cellular and wireline telephone systems.>

Chinese obviously prefer to keep that 1000 calories rather than buy a Globalstar phone. Unsurprisingly, given the prices. 73c a minute might not seem much to average OECD SUV driver, but in China, where to go rich is glorious but still uncommon, 73c must still represent a bit too much rice.

Does anyone have the latest stock price for today?

That's actually quite sad....a LOT of people went down the gurgler with Iridium. The huge short interest says that a LOT of people are going to go down the gurgler with Globalstar. In the dichotomous way of quantum weirdness, it will probably be the shorts. That would nicely balance up and down spin, karma, the inside and outside of Shrodinger's box and all that stuff.
