I am not sure how significant this is but, since QCOM is about the only green today in my portfolio, I thought I would post this in its honor:

Metawave in $108 million "smart" buy
September 06, 2000
by Rex Crum

The market for so-called "smart" antennae -- devices that can increase and better direct the transmission
signals of wireless carriers -- shrunk by one as Redmond, Wash.-based Metawave Communications
(MTWV) announced it would acquire Adaptive Telecom of Campbell, Calif.

Adaptive's technology is built into the base stations that house and run smart antennae in order to lower
the costs of implementing the devices in wireless networks that are usually located in urban areas.

The purchase will likely be seen as positive for wireless carriers that use CDMA technology, which was
developed by Qualcomm (QCOM) as both Metawave and Adaptive are developing CDMA-based
smart antennas.
