I need to remind myself that this is an On Topic area of SI so I will answer but it is OT:<g>

I was wondering if, in establishing your method, you considered other alternatives, e.g. buying on breakouts to new highs, etc.

I tried to understand all of the above and do but I have simplified all of that.

I have a fairly good head when it comes to complex math calculations. I do them in my mind fairly fast. Geometry or the study of shapes was a favorite as a child and is now. Logic is above all other thinking methods, math beats fundamentals every time. Logic always wins over emotions.
Most message boards are full of emotion. I try to teach my form of logic to any who asks me.

Did you just sort of stumble upon your methodology and then decide if it ain't broken, don't fix it?

I discovered that TA was nothing more than 2 moving averages which have seperate speed governors.

Picture from above 2 clowns at the circus in brightly colored cars...zig zagging from point A to point B but their paths at times cross each other.

One clown has a slightly faster car than the other so he always arrives at the intersection before the other clown. After a while you can say that the faster clown if nothing else is at least consistant!
