I have great affection for Amgen. I bought a few shares of Amgen in 1989; sold a third in 1997 and 1998, but still have a nice chunk. The equity in Amgen financed a lot of my Qualcomm purchases. Whenever I got concerned that Qualcomm wasn't doing anything, I remembered having to wait four years for Amgen to prove itself out.
