>> the price of "energy" is about to put the stock market into a face plant. NAZ should at least test 2500--3000.

You're serious about this, aren't you! You're talking recession, right? The current issue of Barrons has a long article with charts and tables saying that the US economy will go on to another record expansion this year. What happened to all the pundits dismissing the price of oil as being such a minor player in the economy now-a-days ?

Seriously, I know there is such a huge amount of energy waste occurring right now, that 10% can be saved with the simplest conservation effort. And maybe for this one season heating oil will be high priced, but people will wear sweaters, and it will pass.

Regarding the NAZ going to 3000, I really thought it would happen, but now I don't see the signs anymore. I have a bet with Olu that we'll see NAZ under 3000 by Oct 1. I think I'll lose. The only thing that could take it there is an over supply of chip making capacity.

One more thought to chew on. Yes electronic devices consume some small amount of energy. But they save a huge amount in making efficiencies in very energy intensive applications. They also greatly reduce waste in manufacturing. As the simplest example: The household in New England pays $2000 in fuel costs. So what's the solution? An electronic gizmo to control the thermostat so it doesn't heat when all the residents are at work or school. Another example: Your delivery truck spends too much fuel. How to solve? equip with cell phone to direct driver to next pickup without returning to base.

If you are really right in forecasting a fuel shortage, that is going to be the biggest boon to electronic device makers in the history of mankind. Especially communications equip. Because transferring information is a cheaper substitute for transporting physical things.

There! I think I'll go to 100% margin tomorrow! Just kidding. But I am fully invested, and intend to stay that way. Not even raising cash at the moment. I hope I don't come to regret this hubris in the morning.

Cheers,
Sarmad
