[World DRAM Price] DRAM Chip Spot Prices Rise in Europe, Asia September 6, 2000 (TOKYO) -- The 30-day (July 20 to Aug. 18) rolling average prices of 128Mb DRAM microchips (PC133, 16M x 8) for large-volume users registered US$15.82 in North America, US$16.04 in Europe and US$14.87 in Asia, according to a DRAM price survey conducted by ICIS-LOR.
Compared to the 30-day rolling average prices up to Aug. 11, the prices remained unchanged in North America, while they rose 1.79 percent in Europe and increased 2.88 percent in Asia.
ICIS-LOR is based in London, Houston and Singapore.
As for memory modules, the spot prices for 128MB DIMMs (PC133) declined by 1.28 percent from the previous week to US$131.73 in North America, while they fell 1.27 percent to US$131.79 in Europe and declined 1.13 percent to US$132.55 in Asia. Notably, the U.S. PC market witnessed a deteriorating growth rate. Also, PC manufacturers adjusted their purchases of memory devices depending on the prices, because they increased inventories as buffers against a possible supply shortage.
