S3 and DreamWorks Records Partner to Promote Content On New Rio Players Tracks From Top Artists Preloaded On Players to be Released This Year VANCOUVER, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 7, 2000--S3®'s Rio Division(TM) (Nasdaq:SIII - news) announced today an agreement with DreamWorks Records, a division of DreamWorks SKG, to put four music tracks from the label's artists on future Rio portable digital audio players.
Included will be the hit song ``Last Resort'' from Papa Roach's album Infest. This album is currently eighth on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart.
The agreement furthers S3's strategic alliances with the record labels to advance mainstream adoption of digital music. S3 has previously announced agreements with Hollywood Records and TVT Records to promote tracks from popular artists like Fastball and Snoop Dogg on the Rio players.
To highlight what consumers can expect from this partnership, DreamWorks will provide two additional tracks for the recently announced Rio 600, which is currently available worldwide. Nikki Love's ``They Don't Understand Me'' and Nelly Furtado's ``Turn off the Light'' will be added to the selections already featured on the Rio 600 early next month.
``We view this partnership with S3 as providing a great promotional vehicle for our artists and further supporting our commitment to digital music,'' said Jed Simon, Head of New Media for DreamWorks Records.
The tracks to be featured on future players include ``Girl from the Gutter,'' by Kina, ``Son of Sam,'' by Elliot Smith, ``Last Resort'' by Papa Roach and ``Illumination'' by Rollins Band.
``As the market for these players broadens, content will become a crucial differentiator,'' said Mike Reed. ``By providing music from DreamWorks preloaded on the players, we are giving consumers a great experience the first time they turn on their Rio.''
