UF,
<< Why, Eric, you're a MOMO! >>
I too have an Evil Twin.
DOJ brought out the worst in him.
<< Do you ever talk about your trades that didn't do well, or are you batting 1000? >>
As a result of participating in this thread, my batting average is pretty darned good. Seldom do anything (temporarily parking the MSFT where I did an exception) that is not LTB&H (although I reserve the right to change my mind as I do ongoing DD).
I am also into portfolio balance which is why the JDSU addition was only temporary (brought JDSU to 25% of port. I have adhered to a personal rule of having no more than 20% in any single equity at year end, for years.
My worst mistake this year was breaking my own rule. End of year QCOM was 46%, and I only took it down 25% on 12/31. I waited till March/April to reduce it another 25%, not bad, but, coulda done better if the Evil Twin hadn't made me break my own rule.
Like everybody, well everybody but Merlin, I have chased a shiny pebble or two, but dumped those in favor of gorillas and kings, and fortunately have escaped unscathed.
As it relates to MSFT, I think we all had to think about that "contained gorilla", and I scrambled together an exit strategy. I pulled the trigger, coming and going, darned near as fast as Lindy would do.
