BOISE, Idaho (CBS.MW) --- Shares of Extended Systems continued to rise Thursday after news of a deal with Intel earlier in the week.

Shares of Extended Systems rose more than 11 percent Thursday to close up 7 3/8 to 72 1/4. Monday, Extended Systems (XTND: news, msgs) granted Intel a license to use its file transfer technology in Intel’s Bluetooth hardware and software wireless technology. The Intel product enables quick communications between portable devices and embedded operating systems and easy viewing of items stored on a hand-held screen.

A limited version of the company’s XTNDConnect Device Viewer application is now included with all Intel’s Bluetooth-enabled product offerings and can be upgraded to synchronize with additional mobile devices. The company stated that Bluetooth-enabled devices are predicted to number 670 million by 2005 “according to market research firm Cahners In-Stat Group.”

Bluetooth short-range “omni-directional radio signal” technology is endorsed by leading telecommunications manufacturers and is the basis on which standard specifications are being developed Intel (INTC: news, msgs) invited Extended Systems to participate in the Bluetooth working groups for the development of wireless standard specifications.
