Khan:
Ad is correct, the Technology Investor article is a must read. In the same issue there's also an article on Bluetooth (and the players in the market for Bluetooth chip solutions), and a "PDA Portfolio of the Month" which includes some of the key suppliers to the PDA market.
As I said in my previous post, the PDA that impressed me the most in the article was the Ericsson Communicator, supposedly slated for release next year. It is shown with a stylish, cool looking form factor and a micro earpiece/mike. The description reads:
"Combine mobile internet browsing, messaging, imaging, mobile telephony and PIM and you get the Communicator. It works with GSM wireless technology and accesses the internet via both WAP and HTML. With built-in Bluetooth, it connects wirelessly with with nearby devices, like laptops. Built-in GPS receiver, color touch-screen, handwriting and voice recognition make this the ultimate PDA."
Concept, or next year's reality? I guess we'll find out soon.
