Optical market growth. Thanks to the NT board :) photonicsonline.com Interesting numbers. NT's lead growing. LU falling behind. CSCO only ranked 7th (!). For them to catch NT at this rate they would need some unbelievable market share gains quarter to quarter and NT would need to be losing ground. CSCO and the 'others' don't have a chance against NT this product cycle (OC-192). Only hope is to go after the next generation of products. But, unless CSCO and the others have products that are clearly better than NT's then NT's ties to it's customer base will make customers leery of switching to a new vendor. AND a lot of the build out requires a huge amount of expertise to configure, install and maintain the network. NT has that kind of expertise (i.e. they can offer the 'total' package) while CSCO is still fishing around for pieces to the puzzle. I still think NT and JDSU own this market. Other players are going to need to come up with new discontinous products to make major in roads.
