Greg re NTAP: Thx and you make...

... an excellent point as to what SI 'used to be.' I had heard that ... probably three years ago ... SI was where the 'serious investors' hung out.

Not knowing much myself then <g> and now, likely ... I didn't 'come over here' because that perception was intimidating to me.

Felt I REALLY had to 'know what I was doing' to participate in an arena with 'serious investors.'

Not that I wasn't 'serious' about maximizing my own net worth ... was simply not very experienced in investing.

And worked full-time. Had life to 'contend with,' etc. Time is a problem for many of us.

Such people who shared in valuable technical discussions then (such as DownSouth you mention regarding NTAP) have obviously been investing for DECADES ... there is NO SUBTITUTE for the depth of their experience. It can't be learned overnight.

SI, obviously, as a profit-making business, wants new subscribers. New eyeballs.

That's why these boards have turned into circuses of novice 'chatters.' By design on SI's part.

Being one of the more useless <g> myself, I think people who REALLY KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING should use SI's PeopleMark and only read those people's posts.

Seems reasonable to me.

Whole thing (the whole experience), once again, is absolutely FASCINATING to me.

I'll go lurk on DownSouth ... I might have offended him with my remarks about Uncle Frank smacking his behind on the football field, those sorts of flames, etc ...

<g>

I've learned more here in five or six months than in the remainder of five years in market, and have people like you to thank for it, BTW.

And I'm not blowing smoke up ... well, you know ...

haha
