hi mang,
yes, we're looking good. powerful, as you say.
a thought occurred to me recently when PALM was being quoted in one of those articles dealing with component shortages...
the thought was, what if PALM really isn't having as tough a time as they are publicly alluding to? maybe they are crying the blues just to appease the competition.
as i mentioned here about three months ago,
"PALM's near term success in the coming months (year?) may well depend heavily on the expertise of its management team as it bands together and tries to gather up components, especially LCD (liquid crystal displays). deal making ability, favors owed, favors due, past alliances, fair business practices, shrewdness, foresight.... these are a few of the variables i see having an effect on PALM's ability to weather the shortages." #reply-13938715
let's look at one PALM competitor (oh, i forgot, licensee!), handspring. just how 'shrewd' do you think handspring management is? what is their position in the parts food chain when it comes down to 'past alliances'? where is their experience? do they have the connections, the savvy, of a PALM? which company has greater financial strength to secure lucrative deals with suppliers? and look at this from the supplier's standpoint... do they want to keep PALM happy? or handspring? do you think it's at all possible that a parts supplier somewhere has had to ask himself, "well, who can we NOT afford to piss off"?
just some food for thought, as we watch PALM gain momentum here in the middle of a component shortage, coming up on earnings, and the holiday buying season...
:)
