Macao Buys US$1M Worth of Microsoft Software
September 7, 2000 (MACAO) -- The government of China's Macao Special Administrative Region will purchase a large quantity of computer software from Microsoft Corp. at favorable prices, the Macao Daily News reported.

The software will have a market value of more than 10 million patacas (US$1.25 million). As a result, 44 government departments will have their software upgraded or begin to use authorized software in the coming two years.

Officials with the Public Administrative and Civil Services of the Macao SAR government are scheduled to sign an agreement with representatives of Microsoft.

On April 10 this year, the chief executive of the Macao SAR issued an administrative decree demanding that all government departments use authorized software.
