I am not sure what upsets you so much about Technical Analysis. Technical analysis is just the analysis of supply and demand. Think of stock as just another commodity that is bought and sold in the marketplace for myriad reasons. Some people buy a stock because they think the company they're buying into is going to find the cure for skin cancer while others buy it because it happens to be moving the "right way". But it boils down to buyers and sellers and most technical analysis is about measuring the buying and selling pressures. Sure, there are good analysts and bad analysts, but that exists anywhere. After all, you wouldn't really be seeing a whole lot of earnings surprises (up or down) if fundamental analysis was all that you imply it is. These are all inexact ways of predicting the future of companies, use what you're comfortable with and leave the rest to others. Heck, if you think so lowly of astrology, get an astrology based newsletter you particularly hate and bet big against it (you could try betting against Carpino for example). But to group all TA with astrology is a bit much -- use what works for you, and bet against the ones you'd want to diss. He who earns the most wins :-) -- relax, have fun.
