mark, I personally think all these 'component shortage' thing is a lot of bull. A couple companies used it as an excuse for a bad qtr and every companies picked it up and try using it as excuses for their mis-managements.

First of all I don't think cell-phones use the same type of screens as palm as every analyst seems to believe in. A phone screen looks more like a calculator screen to me and of course calculator you can have one for $1.99 and had anybody heard of shortages for calculators ? I don't think they should even be called lcd - they are just digital display of some sort.

On the other hand a Palm screen is actually lcd (liquid crystal display - with a plastic protective cover) therefore they can display much smaller letters and also can display graphics and videos. A palm screen is also pressure sensitive so that you can tap on the screen to do things. Try that on a phone screen.
