Just my opinion.. But, I would ponder to assume that it is WCDMA/VW40! nortelnetworks.com Of course the IPR licensing, and IPR validity determination is being made by ETSI/3GPP..(Nice of them to appoint themselves as king!) Which means they could determine all non-European IPR as invalid.. Of course QCOM is "snubbing" the process!! After all, QCOM knows that relegating the power of IPR validity to ETSI is like letting the fox lose in the hen house!! IMO Just look at the list of companies that claim valid IPR for W-CDMA/TD-CDMA/VW40CDMA etsi.org Here is a MY ESTIMATION on how the ETSI IPR determination works.. First they take some pretty definitive Qualcomm art. Reverse link, closed loop power control in a code division multiple access system US Patent#5,812,938 164.195.100.11; Then ETSI determines which patents Ericsson owns that are of an equal "value" to the Qualcomm patent.. The Ericsson offsetting art would look something like this.. "Buzzer with Zener diode in discharge path" US Patent#6,111,497.. Issued Augest 29,2000 (Those Sweedes are really going after that hi technology stuff) 164.195.100.11; Of course anyone could see that Qualcomms' patent pertaining to a "Closed loop power control in a CDMA system" would obviously be offset by the Ericsson patent "Buzzer with Zener diode in discharge path".. Actually, ETSI would probably assign the ERICY Zener patent a slightly higher value than the Power Control patent.. Resulting in the need for Qualcomm to PAY ERICY a royalty in the exchange..
