Hungary Synergon,Compaq Get HUF3Bln Police Contract

BUDAPEST -(Dow Jones)- Hungarian information technology systems integrator Synergon Rt. (R.SGN) said Friday the National Police Headquarters had commissioned a consortium including Synergon to supply 6,000 PC workstations to a total value of 3 billion forints ($1=HUF299.91).
The other members of the consortium are Hungarian IT systems integrator Montana and Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ) of the U.S., Synergon said in a release.
Synergon and Montana will develop a specialized configuration for the police and will share the HUF3 billion equally. Compaq, which will supply the hardware, will receive payment from Synergon and Montana. A Synergon official declined to say how much they will pay Compaq.
The consortium will supply the workstations, which are needed to replace obsolete equipment, by the end of this year. It will also receive payment by the end of 2000.
