as for your 32 bit version story - this is a problem everywhere. this is not unique to AOL. it is unique to all providers. if these intelligent college students "drop" AOL they'll only find the same problem elsewhere. the 16 to 32 upgrades are being worked on everywhere but the man hours required for the upgrades are consuming. in some sectors, Dell and IBM took up little ol' MIGR's solution

AOL is acting very desperate here

they've been desparate for over two years since this program has been ongoing. frankly, I believe it's called "marketing"

I suspect DELL ...may lack the component and personal training to reliably offer such a wide range of components and OS's.

your story smells fishy. send me an email and order number. i'll contact Dell for you and we'll see if we can't get this problem worked out together. i suspect the problem is "user friendly" and Dell unfriendly. if you throw a dog a smelly fish, the dog is smart enough not to eat it. these so-called "order takers" are trained to detect smelly fish.
