"Once we tally sales in the final four months of 2000, we are confident the industry will reach our forecast of 31% growth this year," commented Scalise.
Of course, that's this year. Everybody's scrambling to predict when the peak occurs and next downturn starts. However, many in the industry say downturns will be much less severe in the future because of the wide diversification of applications for chips today.
CNBC was firing up the stove about earnings warning season today. So far, I've heard Gadzoox only for high tech, and they can't seem to cut the mustard vs. Brocade, maybe also Emulex and McData in their space. Circuit City, DuPont, Soupy Campbell, TRW came out warning, no high techs there. So, let's sell off the high techs anyway.
