Hi all. I can only say how wonderful life is!! I was worrying last year, this time, about how to protect myself (I'm disabled) and my dad if worse came to worse.
Instead, we are falling over happy happy joy joy:
We purchased 500 gallons of diesel fuel (basically non-flammable) and whenever we have a power outage we use our generator (w/manual transfer switch installed properly). We also had hundreds of gallons of unleaded gasoline which was just used up last month!! We missed the rising gas prices (but now we have to pay like everyone else).
My woodstove will come in handy this winter, along with cords of wood abundantly stored in the garage.
We recently had to purchase toilet paper.
We saved a lot of money: I had an outdoor well set up, so now I can water the plants on a timer and save on my water bill. I have a water purifier that came in handy this spring when my dad became ill: he has diabetes, etc, and was "forced" by his doctor to drink LOTS of water -- I use my Big Berkey often.
I sold most of my gold -- at a very nice profit. My silver is still at the same price, however, so I'm waiting until it spikes up a bit before dumping most of it.
All in all, I not only prospered -- I profited. My small investments paid off very nicely in the stock market, and I still use the 80% cash principle. I learned to never buy on margin.
I learned a lot, and now I am reaping the rewards.
Nice to talk to you all again.... Lorraine |
